Strikers clinch National Women’s U19 T20 Tournament title

KARACHI: Strikers defeated Conquerors by four wickets in the final of the National Women’s U19 T20 Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. Strikers’ captain Zoofishan Ayyaz, took away the prize pot of PKR 750,000 and the winners’ trophy. This was Strikers’ back-to-back win in the tournament, after they had finished at the bottom of the points table in the four-team competition. They defeated Challengers by eight wickets in the first semi-final held on 6 October at the National Bank Stadium. After being put into bat, Conquerors scored 91 for four in 20 overs. Captain Samiya Afsar top-scored with 32 off 51 balls, hitting three fours and a six. She ended up as the tournament’s top run-getter, scoring 271 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 122.07. For Strikers, Narjis Bibi bagged two wickets for 20 runs and finished with 11 wickets in seven matches – the most by any bowler in the tournament. In reply, Strikers achieved the target in 16.5 overs with four wickets in hand. Captain Zoofishan Ayyaz top-scored with 30 for the winning side.
