PSL broadcast rights sold for Rs26.11 bn

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sold TV broadcast and live streaming rights of the HBL Pakistan Super League for a period of four years (2026-29) for a hefty Rs26.11 billion, the PCB announced on Saturday. “The tender process saw the biggest financial offer made for the acquisition of Media Rights in the history of Pakistan cricket,” read a PCB press release issued on Saturday. “Prior to the opening of the financial bids, the PCB had announced the reserve price for the rights in line with its transparent and robust bidding process. Walee Technologies exceeded the collective reserve price with an unprecedented offer of Rs26.11 billion,” it added. “The newly structured rights allow for exploitation of both television and live-streaming rights across the Pakistan region, ensuring extensive and enhanced coverage for hundreds of millions of cricket fans nationwide. This valuation of Rights reflects the exponential growth of PSL over the past decade and underlines the commercial strength and brand value of Pakistan’s premier T20 tournament. The four-year agreement once executed will coverthe2026to2029editionsoftheleague, shattering all previous records and valuations, reaffirming PSL’s position as one of the most sought after T20 properties in the region,” the press release further said. PSL chief executive Salman Naseer said the development signifies the growing value and standard of the league. “This will be the biggest broadcast deal in the history of not only the PSL but also Pakistan cricket. The steep rise in valuation of PSL`s Commercial Assets reflect the remarkable growth and credibility of PSL as a world-class league,” he said.
