Ogier wins Rally Chile to seize world championship lead

LONDON (Agencies): Sebastien Ogier clinched his fifth victory of the season at Rally Chile on Sunday to move to the top of the World Rally Championship standings, beating Toyota teammate and title rival Elfyn Evans in a commanding performance. The eight-times world champion, in his 200th WRC start, pulled clear on the final day’s gravel stages to secure Toyota’s 10th win of the season. Evans finished runner-up to limit the damage in the drivers’ standings. The result also tightened the Japanese manufacturer’s grip on a fifth successive constructors’ crown, extending its advantage over Hyundai. Hyundai’s Adrien Fourmaux, who had led after Friday, completed the podium. The Frenchman collected his third top-three result of the season.
