Rain brings England’s West Indies tour to premature end, confirming 3-1 series win

ST LUCIA (Agencies): The fifth and final Twenty20 international between West Indies and England was abandoned due to torrential rain in St. Lucia on Sunday, meaning the tourists won the series 3-1. England had already sealed a series victory after winning the first three T20Is in the Caribbean, before West Indies restored some pride by recording their highest successful T20 run chase on home soil in Saturday’s thrilling encounter. The hosts set themselves up to secure another win on the same Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, cruising to 44-0 from their opening five overs on Sunday, but heavy rain curtailed their progress. Play never resumed, with match officials calling the match off to end a thrilling series on a damp note.
