Beccacece appointed new coach of Ecuador

PARIS (Agencies): Argentine Sebastian Beccacece has been appointed as the new manager of the Ecuador national team, the Ecuadorian Football Federation announced on Thursday. The 43-year-old will succeed Felix Sanchez, who was dismissed following last month’s Copa America quarter-final defeat to Argentina. Beccacece has previously coached Spanish side Elche CF, Argentine teams Racing Club and Independiente, and served as an assistant manager for Argentina under Jorge Sampaoli. The details of the contract were not disclosed, but Beccacece’s first match in charge will be against Brazil in the World Cup qualifiers on Sept. 5.
