LAHORE: Former national team captain Javed Miandad has raised his voice against the constant shuffle in the management of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).  Zaka Ashraf resigned as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He announced his decision after the fourth meeting of the committee at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Friday. In a recent interview at an event, Miandad expressed his dismay at the frequent appointments and changes within the PCB, highlighting the detrimental impact on the continuity of the country’s cricket structure. “I have not seen cricket governance anywhere in the world like we see in Pakistan and these state of affairs are really sad,” Miandad said. The cricket legend emphasized that the ongoing trend of regular changes in leadership not only hampers the stability of the cricketing framework but also hinders players’ confidence. “I don’t think anywhere such frequent appointments and changes in cricket are made and it only means that we don’t have continuity in our cricket structure and more importantly the players don’t gain confidence,” he said. He also pointed out that the lack of stability in the management hierarchy has contributed to the team’s poor performances over the past year. “Since last year we have had a really bad time in terms of our team’s performances and people who have no knowledge of cricket sit and take decisions which affect the entire structure in the country,” he complained. It is worth noting that Pakistan Cricket Board’s Election Commissioner, Shah Khawar has been appointed as the interim PCB chief on Wednesday. Khawar will now oversee the PCB elections. Naqvi will contest for the position of chairman and is set to serve as the new chairman for a term of three years if elected. The elections are expected to take place within a month.
